Backpaddock Lakes is one of only a few commercial water parks in New Zealand offering two cable wakeboarding systems. With beginner and advanced courses specifically designed for wakeboarding & waterskiing. Riders/skiers are in a safe and fun environment.
Our cable wakeboarding lake system is a great place for kids & adults wanting to learn to wakeboard & waterski. In a nutshell, wakeboarding at Backpaddocks Lakes caters for all ages and all skill levels. There are no intimidating wakes from boats and our system has fully adjustable speeds operated by experienced instructors, so you can ride comfortably at your own pace.

When it comes to getting on the water Backpaddock Lakes is tough to beat, having two cable systems makes it pretty unique, they have something for everyone to enjoy. When you throw in the great atmosphere and people, the place is worth every bit of the adventure.

Overhead pulleys and cables with wakeboard ropes and handles attached tow riders along. We have helmets available for hire that have two-way radios so riders can communicate with instructors for on the spot coaching providing quicker results, aswell as peace-of-mind for parents and the less confident.
Group Cable Wakeboarding is $300 an hour for a private booking. Minimum booking is for 1 hour.
This includes 1 staff member – 1 side of Cable Park, 1 to 1 coaching for each rider.
This also includes hire equipment such as life jackets, helmets and wakeboard.
Generally 5 – 6 people would work for a 1 hour booking as people generally have a 10 min ride.

Cable wakeboarding is a real hit and can be booked as a stand-alone experience for groups or as an add-on with other activities on and off the water. With our two cable systems people can choose to ride on the beginner cable or for the more experienced young daredevils, on the advanced cable course.*
